Metropolitan Art Atelier embraces the fusion of traditional and folk elements with contemporary art. Our approach is to express these timeless themes in a modern context while staying true to classic techniques, materials, and aesthetics.

We proudly showcase works from both established and emerging artists, offering a platform that blends the new with the renowned. By exhibiting alongside 100 other galleries from around the world, we aim to promote and elevate the visibility of these diverse talents.

"International Art Fair Opportunity for Emerging Artists "

​

Accepted artists will work closely with our MAA platform at Art on Paper 2024. Each chosen artist will have one spotlight dedicated to showcasing their work at the art fair. There are 3 opportunities in total. 

 

“Art on Paper, New York City’s celebrated, medium-driven fair, returns to downtown Manhattan’s Pier 36 during September 2024’s Armory Art Week with 100 galleries featuring top modern and contemporary paper-based art. The fair’s tenth edition will showcase unique and powerful projects curated by Artistic Director Nato Thompson, with a focus on can-t-miss performances highlighting the creative potential of paper.”

Why Submit Your Artwork?

As an artist, you recognize the significance of introducing your creations to fresh audiences, establishing connections with curators, and interacting with the influencers who mold the art community. By submitting your artwork to MAA, you seize the opportunity to:

Increase International Exposure and Visibility: Increase exposure and awareness of your art, spreading your name and concept.

• Global  Recognition: Exhibit your work with 100 galleries and their artists from all over the world in  NYC.

• Networking  Opportunities:  Connect  with  art professionals,  curators,  collectors,  and  fellow artists,  expanding  their  network  and  potentially leading  to  future  collaborations  or  opportunities.

• Access to Art Market:  Being  part  of  a  prestigious art  fair  can  provide  access  to  a  broader  art market,  increasing  the  chances  of  selling artwork to  collectors  and  galleries.

• Sales Potential:  The exposure gained can lead to increased sales and  the establishment of valuable contacts within the art industry.

 

Eligible Artists

• Visual Artists 18 years and older from any country are eligible to submit.

• Artists of all academic disciplines are welcome to apply. Your artwork has to include the paper element. This includes any medium: painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, photography, textile, installation, film, digital, and any mixed media.

• Artists or any art organizations on behalf of artists from all countries are welcome to submit.

Requirements (Submission Guidelines)

• Artists may submit up to 5 images (for an individual work, or multiple works) for consideration.

• Artists must ensure the high quality of images. (The ideal image should have a resolution of at least 250 dpi, with a maximum of 3000 pixels on the larger side), and should not exceed 16 MB in file size.

• Artist statement and biography must be up to 400 words written directly to the form (please do not copy/paste your CV or list of shows).

• There is no specific theme for this open call.

Selected Artists

Once your work is selected, there is no additional fee for exhibiting. You will be responsible for shipping your artwork to us and for collecting it afterward. We will:

1. Display your artwork at the Art on Paper art fair at Pier 36 in September 2024 (over 15,000 avid collectors and art lovers visited during the 2023 Art on Paper art fair). We will provide:

   • 1 spot with unlimited artwork renewal (if your first artwork is sold, you can bring in a new one)

   • 3 labels for your artwork

   • Art installation

2. Display your artwork on the MAA website (https://www.metropolitanartatelier.com/) and the MAA Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/maart.nyc/).

3. Display your artwork (5 max) on the Artsy platform for 1 month, provided with:

   • 5 digital Artsy posters (with the Artsy logo)

4. Display your artwork on the official @artmarketproductions Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/artmarketproductions/) – 21.9K followers.

5. Take care of transactions, documentation, and more, including:

   • Tax, invoice, certification, payment, etc.

Important Dates

Submission Deadline: July 31st, 2024, 11:59 pm EST.

• All artists will be notified of the final decision by the end of July, 2024. If your work is selected, you will receive further information.

Every candidate will receive 2 complimentary VIP tickets for the event, and we sincerely hope to see you there in person.

A non-refundable submission fee is required for each submission.

Agreement

MAA reserves the right to use images of the artwork on its website and social media. By submitting artwork via this call, the artist agrees to the terms outlined above.
